Family Pictures Here! Updated 10/28/12 October 19, 2012 New pictures in the photo albums. Update coming soon... July 3, 2011 We have been enjoying an early spring. Actually, apart from a few breif cold snaps it seems like there wasn't any winter at all. Not that we're complaining. Though it was kind of disappointing that we never had any nice days for sledding or playing outside in the snow. In any case, it's time to put away the sleds and shovels and get out the bikes and lawn mowers. Ruby is already listing all of her favorte parks to visit and asking daddy to pedal her in the bike trailer and asking mommy to push her in the stroller to the elementary school playground which she is now smart enough to realize is really close to our house. A fact she reminds us of every time we drive by. Bennett is stll only semi-mobile. He hasn't figured out forward motion but is able to roll and slide backward well enough to get anywhere in the house with surprising speed. His favorite spot to visit is next to the spindy metal side table which he then tries to pull over and crack himself in the head with. I tried to explain to him all about the tables center-of-gravity, kinetic energy, and blunt force trauma, but he didn't think much of any of that. He just replied, "Da-da-da-da-da" and then blew a raspberry at me which means he thinks I'm full of it. I guess some lessons he'll just have to learn on his own. In other Benny news, his bottom two front teeth have been in for a while and he's almost got his top two front teeth all the way in. Incidentally, he's also being weened off of breastmilk. He's been eating solid foods for a while. His favorites are Sweet Potatoes, Peas, and a Turkey & Rice mush. He also loves Baby Mum-mum's (little rice cereal crackers) and will just lounge in his high-chair munching on them while we clean up after dinner. He also can drink from a sippy-cup, but mostly he just like to bang it on his tray then drop it on the floor. Ruby had a birthday party at House of Bounce. She had been wanting to go there ever since Nana and Papa took her there when they came to visit last summer. Unfortunately, another friend from daycare planned a birthday party on the same day...at Bounce World...and handed out invitations on the same day Melody handed out Ruby's invitations. Ruby's party was scheduled to start right as the other girl's ended and most of her friends were able to make it to both parties. But by the time it was all over, everyone was pretty exhausted. A few times during Ruby's party, I found her just laying down in the back of an inflatable Disney princess castle. We talked to the other girl's mom about sharing a party next year. Melody got to spend a week bonding with the kids while I was in Japan for work. To make the most of it, Bennett got sick and had to stay home from daycare a couple days that week. Being that it was busy week for Melody at work and she had to take two days off, she was not really having a great time. Still she was able to pull through, keep the kids alive and still hang on to most of her sanity. Meanwhile, I had a good time in Japan. The people were really nice, the food was interesting and mostly good. My Japanese colleagues were impressed with my chopstick skills, enough so that someone started a rumor that my wife was Japanese and made me use chopsticks at home. But the best part was getting six nights of uninterrupted sleep. WHen I tell that part of the story, Melody gets a funny look on her face and I get an sudden urge to hide the kitchen knives. Check back in 8 to 10 months for updates on our summer activities. I'll try to post things sooner than that, but if you've been watching
our site I think you know not to hold your breath.
